Bacolod City is the capital of the Province of Negros Occidental, also known as  the Sugarbowl of the Philippines. Bacolod City serves as the entrance of the sugar-rich cities and towns of the Province.

Bacolod is widely known for Masskara Festival, a week-long festival held every third weekend of October nearest October 19, the city's Charter Anniversary.
