Located in the northeastern portion of the island of Leyte. Tacloban City is the Capital of Leyte Province and one of the island provinces in Eastern Visayas.

It is the largest city in terms of population and is considered as the regional center of Eastern Visayas. With an annual income of over PhP500 million, it is classified as a first class city. An interesting fact is that Tacloban briefly became the seat of the Philippine Commonwealth Government from October 20, 1944 to February 27, 1945.
