Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation Incorporated (GKCDFI) or Gawad Kalinga (GK) is a multi-sectoral partnership that undertakes empowering activities geared towards building integrated, holistic and sustainable communities primarily in depressed areas throughout the Philippines.

It gives priority to dismantling the pattern of despair and feeling of abandonment, by establishing a caring relationship with those who are among the most used, abused and neglected in society. It works to restore the dignity of the poor and marginalised, and revitalise their capacity to hope for what is fit for humans to have. GK symbolises the revolution of love and the vision of total human liberation. To achieve its cause GK has seven programs including a Shelter, Child and Youth Development, Health, Productivity, Environment, Values Formation and Mabuhay program.

GK’s work in Negros Occidental started in 2002. Currently there are twelve hundred homes in thirty-two GK sites in ten cities; this was made possible through the sharing and heroism of individuals who believe in GK’s work. In 2008 GK Negros Occidental aims to build a minimum of five hundred houses for the poorest of the poor and more, until all the homeless in the province have their own home.
